In 1850 Mrs Gaskell wrote in a letter: "And we've got a house. Yes! We really have. And if I had neither conscience or prudence I should be delighted, for it certainly is a beauty."
In 2012 Tea Break Theatre invited you to that same house, for an evening of ghost stories which will take you through the building where Elizabeth Gaskell's creations took their first tremulous steps. Both delightful and unnerving, from a French Chateau to Northumberland, these stories intertwine to form a haunting experience like no other.

The Mortals in the House was a true collaboration. We joined with RE:sound who helped create the haunting music and worked closely with the Gaskell House to promote that amazing and neglected building. We hope to return one day to the now newly rennovated house for something a bit less eeire.
